I've long had a theory about the song Karma Police. The distorted looping effects at the end of the song (starting at the 3:14 mark) have always reminded me of the signals emitted by the alien probe in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home as it tries to communicate with humpback whales. Give them both a listen and see if you hear it too.

Karma Police is broadly about justice, judgment, and accountability, which aligns perfectly with the themes of Star Trek IV. In the film, the human race is being held accountable for driving whales to extinction. The alien probe essentially acts as the "Karma Police" of the story, delivering a reckoning for humanity's actions. "This is what you'll get..."

I've searched for interviews or album reviews that might corroborate this connection, but I've never been able to find anything. If anyone knows of a source that discusses this, I'd truly appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.
